Meet Maria Toso
Maria Toso is the author of Heal What Hurts: How to Heal Emotional Triggers (Llewellyn Worldwide, September 2025) and the creator of the Heal What Hurts method, an eight-step somatic spiritual process that helps people transform emotional triggers into a path of healing, presence, and spiritual awakening.
Across the world, people are discovering a profound truth. Emotional triggers are not obstacles to happiness. They are gateways to healing. Through the Heal What Hurts method, Maria teaches people how to meet the contractions in the body that drive our reactions so they can dissolve the patterns that keep painful life stories repeating.
Her work is based on a powerful insight. The dynamics we repeatedly find ourselves in are reflections of the programming held in the energy field of the body. Just as a projection on a screen can only change when the lens is cleared, our life experiences begin to change when the energetic contractions within the body are met with loving presence and allowed to release.
As these contractions soften, people naturally realign with the Divine Light they truly are. Emotional triggers become sacred opportunities to return to love, flow, clarity, and authentic connection.
Maria teaches the Heal What Hurts process through small online circles, retreats, and private sessions with clients around the world.
Originally from Scandinavia, Maria emigrated to the United States in 1998 and made Minnesota her home while maintaining deep ties to her European roots. Since 2015 she has also taught Yoga Teacher Training in the Minnesota College system and has led retreats across the United States and Europe.
