Testimonials

Emily Lethola

““I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training with Maria and have attended several workshops with her. Her deep knowledge of yoga—both in alignment and philosophy—has transformed my practice. Beyond the physical, Maria’s compassionate presence creates a safe space for emotional healing. Her ability to guide others through their emotional layers with love and understanding has been profoundly healing for me.”

Kathy

“Maria is a compassionate teacher who shares her wisdom and love through her yoga teacher training program. She adapts her approach to help each student become the instructor they are meant to be. When I joined her 200-hour RYT program six years ago, I received so much more than yoga instruction—I learned to listen to myself, recognize sticking points, settle into discomfort, and embrace and forgive the parts of myself I had buried. Maria’s teachings resonate in my yoga practice and when I guide classes. Beyond yoga poses and Sanskrit terms, her program taught me meditation, stillness, and the art of listening. Through her focused, interactive, and enjoyable classes, I refined my practice and became a confident, responsive instructor whose students appreciate both the pace and depth of my classes. Thanks to Maria, I continue to grow as a yogi—and as a human being.”

Alexandrea Kouame

“The yoga teacher training that I took with Maria has done more for my mental health than any therapist or self-help book. I’ve navigated a lot these past few years: divorce, job transition and fully sandwiched between a college-aged child and aging parent. What I learned from Maria has been an essential tool to help navigate these stressful times.”

Bob

“At some level we all know that life is about the journey, but Maria’s classes embody the reality that we are constantly changing and improving along our path. Her classes are structured to allow students to examine, be challenged, and ultimately to grow. Personally, I had only dabbled in meditation until I studied with Maria in her 200-hour yoga teacher training program. Her deliberate approach to meditation practices allowed me to explore and ultimately adopt meditation as an integral and necessary part of my own health journey, and now it is a key component in every class that I teach as well. A debt of gratitude for enhancing my journey!”

Walker

“Maria is an excellent guide and teacher. I recently finished my yoga teacher training with her through St. Paul College, and—despite the entire program being virtual—I felt so supported, challenged, nourished, and connected throughout the whole program; I can say with certainty that this was largely due to Maria's presence which both commands and fosters true, vulnerable connection.

I especially appreciate Maria's focus on alignment and precision with cues in asana classes, as well as her deep connection and commitment to the spirituality and the philosophy of yoga (which can so often be brushed over or viewed as an afterthought, when it really is a critical part of yoga). Her Heal What Hurts method is a powerful practice that I think everyone would find benefit from. Her guidance and presence are gifts to the world!”

Dave

“Over the past 5+ years, I have had the privilege to attend Maria’s yoga classes, meditation workshops and classes, Heal What Hurts retreats, and am currently finishing up my 200-hour yoga teacher training with Maria. It is a privilege (and a blessing), because of the way that she approaches all this work.

What first drew me to Maria’s teaching, and what keeps me going back, is that she acts as a guide. In her words, she ‘helps each of us find our own inner teacher’ and helps guide us back to ourselves when we struggle in that search. She is deeply intuitive, and is willing to call us out, kindly, when we are misleading ourselves and when we aren’t speaking our truths. This firm, but loving approach is quite powerful.

I would recommend any of Maria’s classes or workshops, as I have found some deep healing and self-acceptance from my years of working with her. Plus, the community of people that she draws into her groups are some of the nicest people I’ve known and have developed life-long friendships with others in these classes.”

Carolina

“I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training with Maria and it was a life-changing experience. Maria is an amazing teacher and mentor. Her classes are very unique as she works on alignment and the profound connection between the asanas and yoga philosophy. I definitely recommend Maria's classes and workshops!”
