Over four transformative days, we will move step-by-step through the Heal What Hurts process—Maria’s eight-phase method for dissolving emotional pain, clearing the body of contraction, and awakening your Divine Light. You’ll learn to reverse the cycle of the Three Outs—the instinctive ways we try to escape when we’re emotionally triggered:

The Setting

Nestled in the heart of Costa Rica’s lush tropical forest near Lake Arenal, Living Forest Retreat Center is a hidden haven run by Maria’s Scandinavian friend Johanna—a cozy, tucked-away sanctuary surrounded by jungle greens and a swimmable creek that sings you to sleep each night.

In this ideal tropical climate—warm, yet cool enough to rest comfortably without AC—we’ll enjoy locally grown foods prepared with love and healthy fats (olive oil and ghee). It’s the perfect place to unwind, breathe, and reset your nervous system.

What to Expect

The Heal What Hurts Process
Each day we’ll explore a key phase of the Heal What Hurts method—from identifying emotional triggers and tracing them into the body, to meeting contractions with loving presence and restoring Light where fear once lived.

Daily Soma Yoga & Meditation
Gentle, embodied practices on a covered deck overlooking the jungle. Begin each morning with mindful movement and close the day with restorative Yoga Nidra to the symphony of the forest.

Healing Breathwork & Energy Clearing
Release long-held emotional residue and restore balance to your energy system.

Therapeutic Art & Sacred Journaling
Creative exercises designed to quiet the mind and give voice to your healing journey. No artistic experience needed—just an open heart.

Group Circles & Reflective Practices
Connect deeply with others through heart-centered sharing, witnessing, and collective healing.

Free Time to Rest & Integrate
Swim in the creek, journal, nap in a hammock, or melt in the sauna. Spaciousness is part of the healing.

Our Retreat Home

This small, family-run retreat space sits deep in nature, featuring a Finnish sauna and cool jungle creek for refreshing dips. Meals are lovingly prepared, and the kitchen is open for personal snacks. With just 12 participants, this is an intimate, community-style retreat where we live and heal like a spiritual family.

Cozy shared rooms host two participants per space, with shared bathrooms. Beds can be arranged as twins or pushed together for shared sleep.
